Christmas can be a costly time and there are lots of ways you can save money, we wanted to share with you 7 ways the Stress Less Christmas Programme has helped some people save money when purchasing their Christmas Gifts. All 7 are tips you can follow and have come about as a direct result of having time to think ahead and generally being more organised on the lead up to Christmas, people have been inspired to take the programme prompts one step further.... !
1 - Getting your Christmas List and the Children's Christmas Wishlists completed in October provides more time to research and source the best prices for those most wanted presents. No more panic buying at premium inflated prices.
2 - Decluttering key areas of the home in October and selling the decent items creates bonus money, to feel the saving be sure to pop this money away and earmark it for Christmas shopping only.
3 - When decluttering children's toys clean and store toys from older children ready for the younger ones in the family in future years, it is rather funny and somewhat satisfying knowing it hasn't cost you anything extra when you hear the older children shout "I used to have one of those" as the younger ones unwrap the 'new and exciting to them' presents.
4 - From your Christmas List, hopefully written in October, you can spot people who would enjoy similar gifts, 'Bulk Buy' items are a great way to save money, these may be chocolates, make up bags, books etc ... some of the best prices are on orders shipped from abroad from countries such as China. These will need researching and ordering sooner rather than later making sure you spread the cost as well as saving some money too. You can also find great 3 for 2 deals or similar in local highstreet stores.
5 - Host a Toy Swap Party in October or November just after you've completed your decluttering, bring together families with children of similar ages, pop some posts out in a shared chat group about items you are hoping to pick up too - it may just encourage a bit of an extra clear out for them and a huge saving for you.
6 - As you follow the Stress Less Christmas Programme year after year you get used to thinking ahead and so it becomes easier to keep an eye on the online market places such as ebay, gumtree and facebook marketplace. Great resources for those usually expensive items such as bikes, playmobile sets, techy gadgets etc...
7 - And finally of course - BLACK FRIDAY - it's clearly marked on our Stress Less Christmas Planner so that you don't miss out on those bargains, armed with your lists, you will be more focused and won't be tempted to snap up every bargain you see plus it's perfectly timed to help you complete your shopping at the end of November, our shop til you drop month!
All of this helps you be ready for December - presents bought and wrapped with a bit of extra money in your pocket for treating yourself and enjoying the festivities!
